šŸ‘šŸ«–Fancy Mom's Southern Sweet Peach Tea šŸ‘šŸ«–

Ingredients

  • 6-7 Lipton tea bags any tea bag will do
  • 4 cups water brewing the tea
  • 4 1/2 cups sugar divided
  • 1 15oz can sliced peaches, with the syrup
  • 4-5 fresh peaches sliced
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water for the peach syrup
  • Cold water to fill pitcher
  • ice

Instructions

  • BringĀ 4 cups of waterĀ to a rolling boil. Remove from the heat, add the 6–7 Lipton tea bags, cover, and let steep for 30-45 minutes.
  • In a large skillet, combine the canned peaches (with their syrup), the fresh peach slices,Ā ā…“ cup of the sugar, the cinnamon, andĀ 1 cup of water.Ā Reserve the remaining sugarĀ for sweetening the tea. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Lightly mash the peaches with the potato maser or use back of a spoon to release even more flavor.
  • Place aĀ fine-mesh strainerĀ over a bowl or measuring cup and carefully pour the peach mixture through it. Press gently on the peaches with the back of a spoon to extract as much flavorful syrup as possible. Discard the solids or save them for another use.
  • Remove the tea bags and pour the brewed tea into aĀ 1-gallon pitcher. While the tea is still hot, stir in theĀ strained peach syrupĀ and theĀ remaining 4ā…™ cups of sugarĀ  add one cup at a time taste as you GO ADJUST TO YOUR TASTE.
  • Fill the pitcher with cold water until full and stir well. Add a handful ofĀ fresh peach slicesĀ directly to the pitcher.
  • Refrigerate forĀ at least 30 minutes. For the richest peach flavor, let the tea chill and infuse forĀ 1–2 hoursĀ before serving.
  • Pour over ice and garnish with additional fresh Lemon slices.

Notes

The Fancy Mom Tip šŸ’‹

  • Taste as you add the sugar. Add it 1 cup at a time, stirring until it dissolves completely before adding more. You may not need the entire 4½ cups, so adjust the sweetness to your family's taste.
  • I personally love letting my tea brew for a full hour. The longer steeping time creates a bold, rich tea that pairs beautifully with the homemade peach syrup.
  • Straining the peach syrup through a fine-mesh sieve gives you a silky-smooth tea while keeping all of that delicious peach flavor.
  • A small pinch of cinnamon enhances the peaches without making the tea taste like cinnamon.
  • Add fresh peach slices to the pitcher while the tea chills. They'll continue to infuse the tea with fresh peach flavor.
  • Chill the tea for at least 30 minutes, but 1–2 hours is even better for the richest peach flavor.
  • Garnish each glass with fresh lemon slices and sprigs of fresh mint for a bright, refreshing Fancy Mom Ā finish.
