💋✨🍔Fancy Mom's Coca-Cola Sloppy Joes✨💋🎀
Ingredients
- 1 Lb Ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion diced
- 1/3 cup Coca-Cola
- 4 oz tomato sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- cubed cheddar cheese
- Hamburger buns
- Butter, for toasting buns
- sliced cheee
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Instead of breaking it into tiny crumbles, leave some larger pieces so they can soak up the sauce.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent.
- Stir in the ketchup, tomato sauce, Coca-Cola, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until everything is well combined.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has reduced and thickened.
- Once the sauce is thick and glossy, stir in the cubed cheddar cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is melted and fully incorporated into the sloppy joe mixture.
- While the cheese melts, butter the hamburger buns and toast them until lightly golden
- generously spoon the Coca-Cola sloppy joe mixture on top. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Fancy Mom Tips ✨
- Don't break the ground beef into tiny crumbles. Leaving some larger chunks gives the sloppy joes a hearty bite and helps the meat soak up all that delicious sauce.
- Let the Coca-Cola simmer until the sauce reduces and thickens. This is where all the rich, sweet, and savory flavor comes together.
- Stir in the cubed cheddar cheese after the sauce has reduced so it melts into the meat, making every bite extra cheesy.
- Butter and toast your hamburger buns for the best flavor and to keep them from getting soggy.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the toasted buns before adding the sloppy joe mixture for an extra creamy bite.
- Love cheese? Add a slice of cheddar or American cheese on top before serving.
- Top with sliced pickles or crispy fried onions for an extra-special crunch and burst of flavor.
- Leftovers taste even better the next day, making them perfect for quick lunches or easy meal prep.
- Serve with crispy French fries, tater tots, potato chips, coleslaw, or macaroni salad, and don't forget an ice-cold Coca-Cola to complete this Southern comfort meal!
