✨🐓🎀Easy Oven-Baked BBQ Wings✨🐓🎀
Ingredients
- 1.5 Lb chicken wings flats and drumettes
- 1 ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1–1 ½ cups BBQ sauce divided
- cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F. Place a wire rack over a large baking sheet and generously spray the rack with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Dry the wings.Pat the chicken wings really well with paper towels to remove as much excess moisture as possible. This helps them get a better texture in the oven.
- Place the wings in a large bowl. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, and black pepper.Toss everything together until every wing is nicely coated in seasoning.
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack, leaving a little room between them.Bake for about 20 minutes, then carefully flip each wing over.Return them to the oven and bake for another 15–20 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and nicely browned. Chicken should reach an internal temperature of at least 165°F.
- Remove the wings from the oven and brush each wing generously with BBQ sauce.Place them back into the oven for another 5–8 minutes, just long enough for the BBQ sauce to get hot, sticky, and caramelized around the wings.
- While the wings finish baking, warm some additional BBQ sauce in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.Transfer the hot wings to a large clean bowl, pour the warm BBQ sauce over them, and toss until every wing is coated.Serve immediately while they’re hot, sticky, and saucy
Notes
Fancy Mom Tips ✨💋
- Pat those wings DRY! Removing extra moisture before seasoning helps the outside brown much better in the oven.
- The wire rack is the trick because it allows hot air to circulate underneath the wings instead of letting them sit in their juices.
- Want your BBQ sauce extra sticky? After brushing on the sauce, turn the oven to broil for 1–2 minutes at the very end. Keep a close eye on them because BBQ sauce can burn quickly.
- Warm your final BBQ sauce before tossing the wings so you don't cool down those fresh-out-the-oven wings.
- For a little sweet heat, mix your BBQ sauce with a drizzle of honey and a pinch of cayenne or extra Cajun seasoning.
- Serve with ranch, blue cheese, celery, fries, mac and cheese, or your favorite game-day sides.
