🥯💋 Mommy Style Jalapeño Cheddar Bagels 🥯💋

Equipment

  • 1 Stand Mixer

Ingredients
  

  • cups Bread flour
  • 2 Packets instant or fast-acting yeast 4½ teaspoons
  • 1/4 cups honey
  • 1½  cups warm water
  • 1½–2  cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4-5 fresh jalapeños diced and sliced for topping
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp melted butter

Instructions
 

  • In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water, honey, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy
  • Attach the mixing paddle to your KitchenAid mixer Add:Bread flour ,Salt,Garlic powder,Onion powder shredded cheddar and diced jalapeños.
  • Switch to the dough hook and knead on Speed 2 for 8–10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover tightly with plastic wrap or a lid.
    Place the dough in the refrigerator and let it rise 8 hours or overnight.
    The next morning, remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for an hour to take the chill off before shaping.
  • Divide the dough into 10-12 equal pieces.
    Roll each piece into a smooth ball, then poke your thumb through the center and gently stretch into a bagel shape.
  • Place the shaped bagels on cutting board or baking sheet let them rest for 15–20 minutes
  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
    Bring a large pot of water to a gentle boil.
    add in Brown sugar Baking soda, then Poach each bagel for 30–45 seconds per side. Remove with a slotted spoon.
  • Brush the tops with melted butter, then immediately sprinkle with:
    Freshly shredded sharp cheddar cheese Thinly sliced jalapeños
  • Bake at 425°F for 20–25 minutes, or until the bagels are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • These bagels are best served warm with whipped cream cheese, garlic herb cream cheese, or simply butter.Freeze any leftovers already sliced so you can pop them straight into the toaster for an easy homemade breakfast any morning.

Fancy Mom Tips 💋

  • Cold fermenting the dough overnight in the refrigerator is my favorite trick! Letting the dough rise for 8 hours develops a deeper, richer flavor and creates that signature chewy, bakery-style texture.
  • Remove the dough from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 30–45 minutes before shaping. This makes it much easier to work with.
  • These bagels are best served warm with whipped cream cheese, garlic herb cream cheese, or simply butter.
