@thefancymom Y’all know this Southern girl loves a good donut! 🍩✨ Nothing against those light and fluffy donuts, but give me a rich, buttery donut with a tender crumb that’s dripping in sweet glaze any day. That’s the kind of donut I grew up loving. These are the kind that MUST be served hot while the glaze is still melting into every bite. Baby, they’re soft, full of flavor, perfectly indulgent, and worth every single calorie. 🤤💕 If you’re looking for a classic Southern-style donut that’ll have everybody reaching for seconds, this is it. Save this recipe because once you make them, you’ll never look at store-bought donuts the same again. 💋🤍🍩 #TheFancyMom #SouthernBaking #HomemadeDonuts #DonutLover #FromScratch ♬ Moonlit Melody Brew - Penny Siren

Notes

✨ Fancy Mom Tips
💕 Fresh yeast makes all the difference. If your yeast doesn’t foam after 5–10 minutes, start over with a new packet for the fluffiest donuts.
💕 Bread flour is your best friend. It gives these donuts that soft, pillowy texture with just the right amount of chew.
💕 Don’t rush the rise. Yeast donuts need time. Let the dough double in size during the first rise and become nice and puffy during the second rise for the best texture.
💕 Keep the dough soft. It should be slightly tacky—not dry. Adding too much flour will make your donuts dense instead of light and airy.
💕 Use a candy thermometer. Keep your oil between 350°F and 360°F the entire time. Consistent oil temperature is the secret to perfectly fried donuts.
💕 Fry in small batches. Adding too many donuts at once lowers the oil temperature and can make them greasy.
💕 Only fry until lightly golden. A pale golden color gives you that classic Southern bakery look and keeps the inside soft.
💕 Drain on a wire rack instead of paper towels. This keeps the bottoms from becoming soggy and helps the glaze set beautifully.
💕 Glaze while the donuts are still warm. Warm donuts absorb just enough glaze for that thin, shiny bakery coating everyone loves.
💕 Double-dip for extra sweetness. If you love a thick glaze, let the first coat set for 2–3 minutes, then dip them one more time.
💕 Enjoy them fresh. Homemade yeast donuts are at their absolute best the same day they’re made, especially while they’re still slightly warm.
💕 Southern Mama Tip: Serve these warm with , a cold glass of milk, or hot chocolate. Nothing says Southern hospitality like a homemade glazed donut shared around the kitchen table. 🤍🍩
