Ingredients
- 3 chicken breast sliced
- 1 ½ cups buttermilk
- 1 ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tbsp Garlic powder
- 2 tsp cajun seasoning
Seasoned Flour
- 1 Cup Ap Flour
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Instructions
For the Chicken🍗
- Slice the chicken breasts into strips and place them in a large bowl.Add the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, cayenne, smoked paprika, and poultry seasoning directly to the chicken. Toss everything together until the chicken is evenly seasoned.
- Pour the buttermilk over the seasoned chicken and mix everything together until every piece is well coated.Marinate.Cover the bowl and refrigerate for about 3–4 hours. If you have more time and you’re not busy running around with the kids
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, kosher salt, black pepper, cayenne, smoked paprika, garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, and Italian seasoning. Mix well.Bread the chicken.Take each piece of chicken directly from the buttermilk mixture and place it into the seasoned flour.
- I like to leave plenty of buttermilk on the chicken instead of shaking it all off. That extra buttermilk mixes with the flour and creates little clumps of breading.Press the flour mixture onto the chicken really well. You want the coating to look a little messy and clumpy because those are the pieces that get extra crispy in the oil.
- Heat your frying oil and carefully add the breaded chicken in batches. Do not overcrowd the pan.Fry until the tenders are golden brown, crispy, and fully cooked through.Season while hot.As soon as the chicken comes out of the oil, sprinkle a little extra Cajun seasoning over the top if you like. This step is completely optional.
